There are many types of audio cables for your home theater system. And you want to select the best for your home theater experience and enjoyment. So check out your own equipment and system compatibility. The fact is, that while there are several varied types of audio cable available for you to use, there are some that are more commonly selected than others.

One type of commonly used digital audio cable is optical digital cables. This alone renders digital optical cable the best choice when choosing transmission cables for your audio system if they are logistically applicable. The main benefit of digital optical cables is that, because they don’t transmit electricity they are immune to electrical interference that will lead to a degraded or weakened signal.

Still one more point to consider is that digital optical cables don’t function with RCA style cable connectors but rather they use what are commonly referred to as Toslink connectors.

The fact is, that while there are several varied types of audio cable available for you to use, there are some that are more commonly selected than others.

Okay, you have been shopping for cables to finish off your new home theater system and time after time a salesperson tells you about MONSTER cables. Well, when it comes to HDMI or Red/Blue/Green component cables, getting something nice with gold fittings is the way to go but spending big bucks to buy the MONSTER brand name is way over rated. Search our some similar but way cheaper cables on Amazon.com. Now regarding these optical cables. Brand means nothing. Well, I will offer some of the optical digital cable; you can choose the best one.

When purchasing audio cables or speaker cables then main consideration is going to be resistance. With this kind of cable quality really counts. A long, thin cable will offer far greater electrical resistance than a shorter, fatter one. You need a high quality cable with excellent connectors and manufactured to offer a low amount of resistance. So buying good speaker cables for the direct effect upon the end sound quality. Happy Shoping..

The Panasonic DMP-BD30K is the newest DVD with Blu-ray player out there and has most of the latest features including being 1.1 Blu-ray compliant. Blu-ray means incredible full-HD images, breathtaking sound and 5x the data capacity of DVDs. It does this by up-sampling the color information in decoded video signals, while the super high-speed P4HD up-converts content recorded in 480i/p, 720p or 1080i format to 1080p by correctly generating each pixel according to information drawn from up to 60 surrounding pixels.

With Precise Digital Audio, Blu-ray’s beautiful images are complemented by exceptionally pure, accurate sound thanks to Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD. It also brings re-mastering to Blu-ray for the first time, which compensates for data lost during the compression process creating a fuller, richer sound.

Excellent player and with HD audio pass through’s and decoders also. Dollar for dollar one of the best buys I’ve made. It loads quickly and has a lot of features. It was also very easy to download new updates from Panasonic.

Panasonic DVD player, this is great especially on movies where a lot of the scenes are dark. It has plenty of inputs and outputs if you’re not going to go through your surround sound receiver. For the set up Panasonic DVD player was very easy. You can adjust the picture and audio setting through the menu just as easy as you would on a television set. The remote buttons are positioned for easy use and the lettering is easy to see even in a dimly lit room.

I really have nothing negative to say about this Panasonic DVD player unit, other than the fact that it takes an abnormally long time for the drawer to open. One small complaint is that it has no separate earphone jack, but I got around this by using the audio jacks in the back to route to wireless earphone system. Normally this should not be a problem if you have a working earphone jack on your entertainment control unit.

Overall, the price of them should fall pretty low soon when the stores get desperate to close them out so keep an eye out. Panasonic DVD player is a great player, I would definitely recommend this Panasonic DVD player to anyone looking to buy a stand-alone. I consider it money “well spent”.

The individuals find lots of DVD Players in the market today, but the most popular among these players come from brands like Samsung, Philips, LG, Panasonic, JVC, Sony, Toshiba, Denon and many more other brands. These brands are highly acclaimed for the quality and performance of their products.

This is a good price player and comes with a great design; Denon DVD-1800BD Blu-Ray/CD Player, the player plays the disc in almost every format. For enhancing the picture quality, it has got Progressive Scan, Video up-sampling. Further, the player is equipped with Dolby Digital to give you a perfect sound effect. The player is fitted with a large TFT display which is soothing for eyes and offers a high resolution. It is also great to be able to play my .MP3 music files and .JPG slideshows from SD cards!

Combining high performance and affordability, the Denon DVD-1800BD player is equipped with the latest technologies to extract the maximum video and audio quality from your Blu-ray, DVD and CD discs, and features support for the latest generation high resolution audio formats, including Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus as well as DTS-HD Master Audio soundtracks. For optimum picture quality, the DVD-1800BD also provides a suite of picture adjustment controls that includes brightness and contrast, along with color and sharpness adjustments, and a gamma control for superior deep black and dark gray performance.

But, I think Denon DVD player really needs to either put more useful buttons on their remote, and/or make the menus easier to access, and/or make switching to/from SD cards and Discs easier. Also, for photo slideshows, you have to search somewhere in the menus to find the setting for how long a pause you want between photos. And, there is no option for “None”, or even a very long pause.

Otherwise, the Denon DVD player is completely awesome — has a nice sleek look, plays well, upscales nicely, doesn’t take a very long time to load, and runs fairly quietly. We have ours hooked up via HDMI cable, and the video and audio are great. No complaints there. We looked at literally EVERY brand of Blu-Ray player to find one that also has an SD card player, and at the time, this is it baby! I would say it is a worthwhile purchase.

These players range from as high as $300. This is a good value for a blu-ray player with the new online features available such as Netflix, Pandora, and BD-Live. It is small and easy to install and setup. The menus look good and are easy to navigate.

Cable modem speeds in 6MB/s range so the picture quality is very good from Netflix, I’d say equivalent to upconverted DVD quality. Audio quality from Pandora is also excellent and the commercial-free music service is supreme. Blu-ray DVDs look fantastic and upconverted standard DVDs look great too.

My only little issues for this product is that the motor is noisy, which makes for a rather distracting whirring sound – much more noticeable than my standard dvd player – that is ever present in the background

Finally, this in my opinion is a great entry level player, easy to use, reasonable price and good design. I’m totally satisfied with Samsung Blu ray player and recommend it.

Let us have a look at some of the benefits of these DVD players to gain a complete insight about them. The current day DVD market is full of high quality and cheap DVD players. However, you must observe due care and attention while selecting a DVD player for your home.

PHILIPS Hi-Def 1080p Up-Conversion Multi Region Codefree DVD Player with DivX HDMI and USB. Plays PAL/NTSC DVDs From Any Region

This technology enables the it to carry high-definition audio and video information through a single cable and achieving the highest quality picture and clearest sound available. Progressive Scan It is a progressive scan DVD player, capable of scanning an entire video frame at once; scan-lines commonly associated with interlaced video are drastically reduced.

The result is a spectacularly clear image with no motion artifacts (stair-stepping), and details so sharp they seem as if they’re etched onto the screen. Built-in Multi-Channel Decoders It has built-in processors to handle the multi-channel decoders for Dolby Digital and DTS surround-sound, capable of advanced 24-bit processing and an outstanding sampling frequency of 192KHz. DivX Ultra Home Theater Certified DivX is video compression software which enables high quality video to be compressed into very small files then downloaded onto CD-R or CD-RW and played back with very little loss of quality.

Multi-Format Player Don’t worry about limited playback capabilities, it plays DVD Audio/Video, DVD-R/W, DVD+R/W, CD, CD-R/W, SVCD, DivX Ultra, MP3, WMA, JPEG, HD-JPEG and TIFF. High-Performance Outputs With playback specifications that meet the standards of professionals, it features a component video output for high-resolution low-distortion video playback, and a coaxial digital-audio output for high-quality audio playback.

USB Direct Just plug your device into the USB port on your Philips DVD system. Your digital music and photos will be played directly from the device.

High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) Features an HDMI output, capable of upconverting video signals to 720p/1080i and 1080p.

The picture very vivid, very sharp. I’m extremely impressed. Small slick DVD player. Does all as promised. Play PAL and NTSC DVD’s, upscales output up to 1080p. I really can tell difference compare to regular progressive scan DVD players. You can find only very little Sim and absolutely no Hay in Region 1 format discs.

The disc tray is pretty flimsy and seems to take a while to load and eject but those are minor issues for me. Don’t lose the remote though as there are virtually no controls on the actual player.
One thing is for sure, these Philips DVD players will never fall short of your expectations. You will be delighted to have such durable and performance-oriented home entertainment devices at your home. Not only this, the high costs associated with the theatre movie magic experience are also eliminated by a DVD player. The users can easily play and organise DVD format files by using them on these players. Now you can share your favorite moments with family and friends.

Overall, it’s a GREAT player and it does exactly what I need it to do without a problem, and recommend it to you…

Revel in astounding HD clarity with the BDP-S350 Blu-ray Disc player. The most noticeable additions to this year’s model are the Ethernet port that lets you download firmware updates directly to the player, and — with one of those firmware updates — access web contetent encoded to Blu-ray discs via BD-Live, compatibility with the Bonus View feature of select Blu-ray movies, and a USB port that allows you to add more storage to access the growing number of special features that will be available given the immense storage capacity of Blu-ray discs themeselves.

This player also outputs a Full 1080/24p True Cinema picture, and upscales your existing DVD collection to 1080p when using an HDMI connection. Dolby TrueHD capability delivers lossless sound that is true to the original studio master. Bringing it all together is the new icon based Xcross Media Bar, which provides simple navigation of the player’s menu system.

Special Features

Sony Blu ray Player

True 1080p Output

Dolby TrueHD compatible

Ethernet connection for BD-Live Compatibility and firmware updates

USB Port Allows More Storage for Access to More Special Features, Like Bonus View

Higher Bit Rates mean less video compression

Emmy-Award Winning Xross Media Bar Interface

Bravia Sync for Easy Connectivity

Sony well known not only for their quality of products, but also for their advancement of the improved technology. This one loads pretty fast. From what I read it is much faster then older models. There is only one thing that I’m disappointed with the player has the Bravia Theater Sync feature. Which works great with my Sony amp. I also watched Stop Loss on a SD DVD and that look pretty good too. The DVD player has a slot in the back for a USB drive and it also has a ethernet port so it can connect to the net for firmware updates and to access bonus features.

One of the best features of this player is its size. Sony has been able to reduce the size of the player to just over a 2″ height and only 8-3/4″ deep. Sony’s previous model was nearly 15″ deep and just over 3″ high.

But you cannot turn off Sony’s GUI control panel (Xross Media Bar) over the desktop pattern–it is always on unless you are playing a disc. I use this player with a front projector and it looks tacky for guests seeing my control panel over the desktop and for some reason the DVD remote will only control the volume for the TV not the amp. So I still have to use a second remote for volume on my Sony amp. This makes no sense to me.

Finally, I’m very pleased with the performance of this system, a good player with 2 annoyances. 4.5/5. I find absolutely no need to replace those two favorite great movies on Blu Ray because the S-350 upscales them to HD just fine! This IS an amazing player!!! I recommend this product to everyone!!!

I can’t believe we are still using motors and movable parts that wear out. The technological advances of the last few years have led to media that can hold Giga bytes of data in volatile and non volatile storage with no moving parts. So, does BluRay fit into this scenario?

HP Pavilion DV7-1270US 17.0-Inch Laptop (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 Processor, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Drive, Blu-ray Drive, Vista Premium)

The mouse touchpad has a scroll function on its side. this computer has state of the art audio, (the speakers of this brand are very costly), a dedicated video graphics card, and a very powerful processor. coupled with its sleek design you cannot go wrong. its versatile, and it is very easy to set up networking.

This is just my opinion and should be taken as such. Please do yourself a favor and do not install XP on this. This laptop is too great to go back to XP. AERO does look nice and this laptop should be able to run anything you throw at it. Even a clean install of Vista should not give you any problems. While XP works great for most people, do not fight change and try to give Vista/7 a fair chance.

Finally, I just hope this blu ray laptop continues to be enjoyable and doesn’t become a disappointment, later. I highly, recommend this HP Pavilion blu ray laptop.

Pioneer BD-Live Blu-ray Disc. Player, featuring 48-bit deep color and 7.1-ch analog outputs, is built for entertainment junkies who seek cinematic-quality performance along with a premium and unique user experience.

Pioneer’s players combine supreme features, sophisticated internal construction with a rigid chassis design ensuring the highest quality playback of Blu-ray Disc, DVD and CD entertainment. The BDP-320 is also outfitted with built-in memory to deliver on the promise of BD-Live right out of the box.

Customizable Viewing Experience
For those updating a home theater system, the Pioneer BDP-320 features sleek, slim form factors and gives consumers the confidence that comes with a heralded 30-year leadership in optical disc innovations.

• New–KURO Link Auto Picture Adjust: By connecting the BDP-320 to a Pioneer KURO flat panel TV or monitor and a compatible Pioneer A/V receiver, KURO Link lets you operate the entire system’s basic functions such as power on/off and playback through KURO’s remote control. The new KURO LINK Video Adjustment System automatically switches to video settings best suited for the connected KURO.

• New–Simultaneous Video Outputs: Watch your Blu-ray disc movies while watching the bonus features at the same time (Picture-in-Picture).

Pros:
I have sample owned 6 blu-ray players in my store before, this one from brands like Panasonic , Sony and Samsung, all great players, but this one right out of the box shines quality, Only player I have seen to upscale to 12 bit deep color, loads fast, responds to menus well, quiet operation, will pass all HD audio bit stream and decodes HD audio, some people complain when there is no backlight on the remote, its nice but I’m not a remote critic, if it does its job then good enough. Works seemless with the picture on a Pioneer Kuro plasma, a must have.

Cons:
Firmware came as 1.00, it won’t let me play The Matrix on Blu-Ray, but Pioneer responded the next day, they will send me the 1.08 update, so be prepared to update.

Other Thoughts:
Movie makers keep messing around with the JAVA for NEW features, they need to settle down so our players don’t need an update every 3 months when a new movie comes out on disc.

Finally, Highly recommended for the moderately experienced (or expert) home theater enthusiast!! Nothing else in this price range comes close.

According to the Computer Desktop Encyclopedia, Blu-ray is “A high-capacity optical disc that holds 4.5 hours of high-definition video (HD) on a single-sided, single-layer 25GB disk. Blu-ray supports the more advanced H.264 and VC-1 video encoding algorithms (codecs) as well as MPEG-2, which is used for DVD. The first Blu-ray recorders, which also play CDs and DVDs, were introduced in Japan in 2003.

Blu-ray is thus the most advanced digital playback recording technology currently on the market. To begin with, as the Encyclopedia’s definition makes clear, Blu-ray discs have monstrous storage capacity. The players in Blu-ray technology are also pushing to have player manufacturers standardize backwards playing capacity, meaning that all Blu-ray discs as well as DVDs and CDs would be able to be fully rewriteable. HD-DVD, the Blu-ray competitor, never reached such wide appeal.

Blu-ray DVD Players – in Home Entertainment

Well.., now you can thanks to the technology provided by the Blu-ray DVD.

Blu-ray technology was developed in order to enable recording, rewriting and the playback of high definition video (HD). Also thanks to the extra storage space Blu-ray DVD discs offer an exciting array of advanced interactive features and bonus content. The reason that Blu-ray is the ultimate in high definition is down to the laser that is used to read the discs.

The red laser is 650nm, whereas the blue-violet laser is 405nm. Bluray DVD players are available from many manufacturers, for example Sony, Samsung, Philips, Panasonic, Pioneer, LG and Sharp. On top of these quality brand Blu-ray DVD players the Playstation 3 includes a built in Blu-ray disc player. Also recently a number of laptop computer models have started to incorporate Blu-ray Disc players as well as producing add-on Blu ray disc drives for desktop computers.

Also you are unable to play Bluray DVD discs on anything other than a Bluray player. Get your Blu-ray technology set up straight away.

Continuing its commitment to producing products that stress ease of use, the 2009 line of Blu-ray Disc players continue to incorporate VIERA Link, allowing the consumer to operate their audio/video components, via HDMI, with one remote. And, in keeping with Panasonic’s pledge to reduce the planet’s carbon footprint, the new Blu-ray players have been designed to reduce power consumption.

Special Features

• PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus for faithful and sharp color reproduction

• VIERA CAST to enjoy great web entertainment on your HDTV

• SD memory card and USB slot so you can enjoy precious memories in HD

• High precision 4:4:4

• 24p cinema mode

• 7.1ch lossless audio decode and bit-stream output

• VIERA Link

• ENERGY STAR rated consumes 10 percent less power than DMP-BD35

The Panasonic BD60K player features a PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus Digital Video processor. The beautiful images are complemented by an accurate sound achieved leading-edge audio technologies such as Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD. The Panasonic DMP-BD60K Blu Ray DVD player is an excellent DVD player.

The PQ for standard definition DVD is bearable on a projection screen and not the same quality as the Blu Ray DVD. I also played this DVD player through a 42″ Panasonic Plasma TV (720P) and the PQ for standard definition DVD or Blu Ray DVD is outstanding.

But, I wanted it to be as good as my Oppo 981HD DVD player so I could sell it. I didn’t want too many components. Panasonic up conversion is quite good but not as great as the Oppo.

Finally, it raises the bar on Blu Ray players that other manufactures will have to surpass in order to be able to compete on quality and price. I highly recommend the BD60 as a compliment to any current or future HD entertainment system.
